Job Summary
Lead students toward fulfilling their potential by translating district curriculum standards into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and special area assignments. Maintain a positive educational environment while creating programs that meet the intellectual and emotional needs of all students. Utilize effective instructional and management techniques to consider individual learning needs, prepare lesson plans, and incorporate higher-level thinking strategies and real-life applications. Continuously collect student achievement data to make instructional decisions, establish positive relationships with students and parents, and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student. Manage challenging behaviors, participate in multidisciplinary team discussions, and assist with assigned duties within the classroom, resource room, and office settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, appropriate for subject area
- Course work should include Foundations of special education
- Course work should include behavior management techniques
- Course work should include assessment and evaluation methods
- Course work should include instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Course work should include inclusive teaching practices
- Appropriate Arizona certification
- Valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Evidence of highly qualified status
- Three letters of recommendation
- Transcript of credits
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents and school personnel at all levels
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, students
- Skills in managing classroom behavior and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
- Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and how to implement them effectively
- Expertise in de-escalation techniques and handling challenging behaviors
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
