Teacher - Special Education Resource - East Valley Academy

The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students. Responsibilities include curriculum planning with lesson plans aligned to IEP goals, using effective instructional and management techniques, employing district-adopted materials, incorporating higher-level thinking and real-life applications, developing and using assessment documents, leveraging technology to enhance learning, collecting and analyzing student achievement data, maintaining positive classroom and campus management in line with policies, developing IEPs for students, collaborating with parents and other staff, maintaining student records, ensuring a safe learning environment, supporting school goals, and performing assigned duties. Required qualifications emphasize Arizona certification and a bachelor's degree in special education, with coursework in foundations of special education, behavior management, assessment/evaluation methods, instructional strategies for students with disabilities, and inclusive practices. The work environment centers on classroom, resource room, and related duties within Mesa Public Schools, with responsibilities including IEP participation and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
