Teacher, Special Education (Project SEARCH)

Provide direct and transition-focused special education services for eligible high school students. Collaborate with special education leadership to deliver professional learning on transition topics and work with businesses to establish worksites and coordinate job coaching as needed. Enable students to obtain employment-related skills, monitor progress toward postsecondary goals, and deliver direct instruction in transition-focused classes (e.g., Education for Employment, Career and Transition) on resume writing, interviewing, job applications, and options for postsecondary training. Communicate with students, families, and staff; participate in interdepartmental collaboration; coordinate with adult services organizations; attend IEP meetings to develop transition plans; conduct transition assessments and collect data for state reporting; coordinate transportation to community locations and work sites; may manage a caseload of special education students. Qualificatons include a Bachelor's degree, Virginia teaching license with Special Education endorsement, and demonstrated successful teaching experience. Five years of classroom experience in special education preferred. Must possess strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills and be capable of adapting to daily changes.
