Job Summary
Teach K-12 students in the Special Education program in Española, NM. Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), coordinating and supervising work experience and on-campus job training for SPED students, collaborating with regular classroom teachers to interpret student abilities and disabilities, conferencing with parents and professional staff, assisting in screening/evaluating placements, counseling students on educational/occupational goals, maintaining behavior standards, participating in curriculum development (including bilingual curriculum) and EPSS, administering standardized tests and Language Assessment Scale in English and Spanish, supporting Medicaid-related time studies, and coordinating field trips and transportation as needed. Requires ongoing professional study in psychology of SPED and bilingual education, attendance/recordkeeping, and engagement with administrators on evaluation methods; occasional travel to other locations as needed. Term is annual, salary set by the district schedule.
Required Qualifications
- New Mexico Public Education K-12 Special Education teaching license
- Properly certified in all areas of assignment
