Job Summary
Special Education teacher sought to create a developmentally appropriate instructional program and inclusive classroom environment aligned with Marion Community Schools' goals. Responsibilities include establishing developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations, creating safe and engaging lessons that are multicultural, gender-fair, and disability-sensitive; selecting/adapting materials for diverse learners; delivering curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving; collaborating with families and utilizing community resources to inform decisions; regularly assessing students' development and learning; implementing ongoing professional development; and participating in site-based decision making. Required: Indiana teaching license/certificate or other legal credentials for the level of assignment; experience in urban, multicultural education desirable; ongoing professional development and knowledge of best practices, student learning styles, and effective communication with students, families, and staff. The position is based in the school building (McCulloch Junior High School) and involves standing/sitting for long periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, and typical classroom duties.
Required Qualifications
