Job Summary
Conduct daily instruction for students with autism and special needs, modifying curriculum and providing individualized support based on IEP goals. Manage a nurturing classroom climate using positive motivation, clear routines, and effective management skills while collaborating with staff to analyze data and adjust the instructional program. Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and the community in English. Utilize interactive computer software and demonstrate critical thinking to solve problems. Requires a New Jersey instructional certificate for K-6 and Students with Disabilities Certification.
Required Qualifications
- appropriate New Jersey instructional certificate for the position K-6
- Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
- Experience working with students with special needs
- modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based upon IEP goals and objectives
- work in teams to achieve academic expectations
- work collaboratively with school leaders and school staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program
- communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community
- provide a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility
- use positive motivation, clear classroom routines and effective classroom management skills
- Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA
- be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others
- be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software
- Excellent classroom management
