Job Summary
Design and implement authentic, engaging learning experiences for ninth through twelfth-grade students using the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum. Establish a safe, supportive environment that encourages student agency, ownership, and reflection while managing behavior across instructional settings, hallways, and field trips. Personalize instruction based on individual student needs and assess growth against educational objectives to refine teaching practices. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and collaborate with professional staff, including teacher assistants and volunteers, to maximize learning opportunities. Participate actively in the school's professional learning community to deepen curriculum understanding and create assessments measuring lesson mastery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications
- Excellent human relations skills
