Job Summary
The Teacher, Spanish designs and implements authentic, engaging learning experiences for high school students (9th–12th grade) following the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum. Responsibilities include creating and assessing instruction, monitoring student progress, communicating with parents, collaborating with colleagues, and guiding students through diverse learning pathways. The role involves preparing assessments, managing classroom behavior, and supporting student learning through collaboration with other staff, teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers. Requires a Bachelor's degree and Virginia teaching license with subject-area endorsement, along with strong knowledge of classroom technology, curriculum design, and data-informed instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
