Job Summary
Plan, develop, and implement weekly lesson plans tailored to children's developmental levels while maintaining appropriate adult-to-child ratios. Document attendance, transitions, incidents, and minor disciplines for each child, and report special needs or problems to the supervisor. Manage classroom and program area cleanliness, ensuring toys and equipment are properly disinfected and maintained according to state regulations. Communicate verbally and in writing with parents, conduct conferences, and attend family events. Drive safely to transport up to 14 children and travel between locations as needed, adhering to a clean driving record. Maintain CACFP records, conduct required screenings and assessments, and complete ongoing trainings and staff meetings. Fill in other classrooms when needed and protect confidential information regarding families and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess high school diploma or GED
- Possess the ability and appropriate safe driving record to drive a vehicle, safely transporting up to 14 children, and to travel between locations for work-related purposes as needed
- A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation are required only for employees who will perform driving responsibilities as part of their role
- Candidates without a valid license may still be hired but will not be eligible to drive YMCA vehicles until requirements are met
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university preferred
- Six months experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred
