Job Summary
Teacher's Assistant at Kids Unlimited Learning Academy (KULA), an early intervention day treatment clinic for children with special needs. Assist educators in delivering cognitive, social-emotional and motor-skill development for children from birth through Kindergarten, with summer expansion to include elementary school-aged children. Work within a culture of patient-centered care alongside licensed therapists (occupational, physical, speech-language), nurses, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure each child’s needs are met. Requires effective communication with diverse families and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical setting. Required Qualifications
- Education/ Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDA preferred.
- Experience/ Knowledge required: Prefer at least one year of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills/ Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
- Must be able to work with children birth to age 18 and families who are at risk.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
