Job Summary
Deliver a high-quality early childhood education program for children ages 3–5 aligned with Head Start Performance Standards by planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, multicultural curriculum using the Creative Curriculum foundation. Supervise classroom staff and volunteers while fostering meaningful family engagement through warm greetings, open-ended questions during meals, and inclusive parent involvement in lesson planning. Maintain a safe, inviting learning environment by ensuring adequate materials, monitoring children continuously for safety, and completing required safety checklists and drills on schedule. Complete Brigance screenings, individual child plans, and Work Sampling assessments three times annually to support children with disabilities or behavioral concerns. Document observations, maintain accurate portfolios, and submit reports by deadlines. Adhere to strict confidentiality, dress code, and attendance policies while obtaining 15 CEUs annually. Maintain Maryland Childcare Credential enrollment and CPR/First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, or related field
- Must always maintain confidentiality
- Ability to communicate effectively, appropriately, and professionally in both written and verbal formats with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and vendors
- CPR and First Aid certification
- State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check
- National Sex Offender Public Registry Check
- Physical examination and Tuberculin PPD Tine Test at hire and annually (or as required by physician)
- Pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to lift preschool children or up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Active participation in programs for young children

Desired Qualifications
- Two years of supervised experience in a licensed early childhood program
- Strong math and analytical skills
