Job Summary
Primary responsibility is teaching Reading at the middle school level. Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in reading specialist and a Master's degree in reading. Requires a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience with a focus on reading. Demonstrated ability to improve reading achievement and to assist other teachers in implementing effective content-area reading strategies. Leadership qualities and ability to work with professional colleagues and the public. Technology competence as required by the Virginia Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Virginia teaching license with endorsement in reading
- Master's degree in reading
- minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience in which teaching reading was an important responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to improve achievement levels of students experiencing reading difficulties
- Demonstrated ability to assist other teachers in reading strategies
