Job Summary
Lead preschool classrooms at the Debra Ann Porter Childcare Center by implementing a formal child screening process, a research-based curriculum addressing Head Start standards, and ongoing child assessments. Collaborate with classroom teams to drive parent involvement and community collaboration while supporting low-income families in the Maywood neighborhood. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, an Illinois Professional Educator License (Type 04), and at least two years of preschool teaching experience with knowledge of Head Start philosophy and bilingual education practices. The position offers an 8-hour shift with a salary ranging from $45,000 to $52,000 annually, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits. PLCCA, established in 1968, serves low-income residents through community action programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in early childhood education (Type 04)
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a preschool classroom (ages 3 to 5)
- Knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start (or comparable child development program)
- Knowledge and experience in early childhood education
- Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate practice
- Knowledge and experience in bilingual education
