Job Summary
The Teacher, Physical Education designs, implements, and assesses an elementary PE program in kindergarten through fifth grade using the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum. Responsibilities include creating authentic and engaging learning experiences, personalizing instruction, assessing student growth, monitoring behavior, collaborating with colleagues, parents, and the community, and possibly directing teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers. The role emphasizes promoting healthy academic and social behaviors, fostering student agency, and supporting professional learning communities. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and eligibility for Virginia teaching license with endorsement in the appropriate subject area. The position is full-time, based in Sterling, VA, and remote work is not eligible.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
