Job Summary
Design and implement authentic, engaging learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum to maximize student achievement across ninth through twelfth grade. Establish a safe, supportive environment that encourages diverse students to develop agency, ownership, and reflection while managing behavior in instructional settings and school grounds. Personalize instruction based on individual student needs, assess growth against educational objectives, and analyze data to refine teaching practices. Continually communicate with students and parents to inform progress, plan activities with professional staff, and support colleagues, students, and community stakeholders. Direct teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers as needed to provide an effective learning environment. Participate actively in the school's professional learning community to deepen curriculum understanding and create assessments that measure mastery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications
- Excellent human relations skills
