Job Summary
Teach Physical Education to K-8 students by setting ambitious learning goals, creating cognitively demanding tasks, and scaffolding instruction to meet diverse needs. Demonstrate mastery of content knowledge while connecting subject matter to real-world settings and relevant standards. Engage with families to build collaborative relationships and actively maintain a respectful environment that honors students' diverse backgrounds. Regularly reflect on practice, seek feedback, and contribute to a collaborative adult learning community. Reports to the Principal/Head of School. Requires a Bachelor's degree, a Massachusetts Teaching License in Physical Education, and current authorization to work in the United States. Preferred qualifications include experience in urban schools and fluency in Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in Physical Education at the appropriate level
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the BPS
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
