Job Summary
The Teacher, Physical Education delivers and assesses an instructional program for elementary students (kindergarten through fifth grade) within an itinerant role. Responsibilities include designing engaging learning experiences aligned to curriculum and standards, personalizing instruction to meet diverse student needs, monitoring student progress, communicating with parents, coordinating with administrators, and supporting classroom and school-wide expectations. The role may involve directing teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers to foster an effective learning environment, participating in professional learning communities, and applying current research and theory to instruction. The position emphasizes safe, supportive environments, developmentally appropriate instruction, collaboration with colleagues, students, families, and the community to promote student learning, and adapting instruction to maximize student achievement across grade levels. The role is based in Sterling, VA with in-person duties and no remote work eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
