Job Summary
Teach Physical Education to grades 7-12 by setting ambitious learning goals, creating cognitively demanding tasks, and scaffolding instruction to meet diverse needs. Assess student understanding regularly and adjust practice to ensure equitable, active participation while maintaining a safe, respectful environment that honors diverse backgrounds. Convey content knowledge creatively and align lessons to standards, while actively engaging families to build collaborative relationships. Regularly reflect on practice, seek feedback, and contribute to a collaborative adult learning community. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Physical Education and meet all state and federal guidelines for full licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in Physical Education at the appropriate level
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the BPS
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
