Job Summary
The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) plays a vital role in enhancing student achievement by leading instructional coaching, managing coverage systems for absences, and providing targeted language development instruction. Responsibilities include collaborating with school leadership on staffing, coaching teachers, delivering professional development, and implementing effective teaching practices in a dual-immersion setting. Required qualifications include bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, a valid teaching credential, and strong classroom management skills. Preferred qualifications emphasize experience with multilingual learners and instructional leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Valid teaching credential
- Strong classroom management and planning skills in a dual-immersion environment
- Demonstrated skill in coaching adults with clarity, empathy, and high expectations
- Data literacy - facilitate basic data meeting & set measurable goals
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with multilingual learner instruction / designated ELD / language development
- Experience leading PD or facilitating PLCs
- Minimum (1) year working with similar student and community demographic
- Knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities preferred
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Apps
- Understanding of dual immersion instructional practices, school design, and the unique characteristics of public charter schools
