Job Summary
Assist the principal in providing a safe school environment conducive to teaching and learning by creating long-range plans, enforcing district guidelines for student conduct, and interpreting the Code of Student Conduct. Monitor student attendance, investigate incidents to recommend disciplinary action, and ensure due process procedures are followed for all discipline actions. Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment while using effective behavior management techniques and technology resources to review assessment data. Provide instruction on safety plans, evacuate during crises, and offer appropriate modifications for students with special needs or limited English proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years teaching experience
- Valid Florida Teacher Certification
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening
- Knowledge of human development and especially of characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned
- Knowledge of laws, rules and policies governing student discipline
- Ability to read and interpret applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures
- Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities related to assignment
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision
- Ability to tolerate highly stressful situations
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology
- Ability to handle problems, concerns and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with students, parents, and others
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others
- Knowledge of Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Teacher Competencies
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects
- May be required to restrain a physically active individual as a temporary safety measure
