Job Summary
Teach students with visual impairments in Texas-based, school-site settings. Provide specialized instruction and support, adapt instructional materials into accessible formats (Braille, large print, assistive tech), support IEP goals and accommodations, collaborate with teachers and families, assess students’ needs, document accurately, and maintain compliance. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, Texas teaching certification, and TVI certification; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to implement instructional strategies and assess visual functioning; opportunities for pre-K through high school and varying schedules (full-time or part-time).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- Certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI)
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
- Ability to assess visual functioning using appropriate tools and methods
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage student behavior and support diverse learning needs
