Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments to access curriculum and develop independence; conduct assessments to determine strengths and areas of need; adapt instructional materials into accessible formats (Braille, large print, assistive technology); support the implementation of IEP goals and accommodations; collaborate with teachers, staff, and multidisciplinary teams; consult with families and school personnel to support student success; assist students in developing independence and functional skills; maintain accurate and compliant documentation. Requires Bachelor’s degree, Texas teaching certification, and VI/TVI certification. Experience with assessment tools for evaluating visual functioning and ability to support diverse learners is essential. School-based opportunities serving Pre-K through High School in the Houston area, with flexible Full-time or Part-time placements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- Certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (VI/TVI)
- Knowledge of assessment tools for evaluating visual functioning
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to support diverse learners and manage student behavior effectively
