Job Summary

Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student differences while conducting ongoing assessments of student learning styles. Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Direct the work of assigned instructional aides and volunteers, oversee extracurricular activities, and compile all required reports and records. Establish professional relationships with parents, colleagues, and community members while supporting the district's mission and complying with state and board policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
  • Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
  • Prolonged standing
  • Frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Work prolonged or irregular hours
