Teacher of The Deaf (TOD License & Certification)

Job Summary

Manage classroom schedules, curriculum implementation, and student supervision for children with hearing loss aged 12 months to 5 years. Develop and evaluate educational programs aligned with DISH mission requirements, writing individualized goals and tracking formal and informal data for progress monitoring. Supervise teaching assistants and junior staff to ensure safety and protocol compliance, while conducting direct student supervision during classes, transitions, and activities including toileting assistance. Complete daily equipment checks, administer testing, and maintain weekly parent communication via Brightwheel app and monthly schedule distributions. Participate in regular staff meetings, parent conferences, and field trips while supporting clinic and leadership development opportunities within a collaborative team culture.

Required Qualifications

  • valid Texas Deaf and Hard of Hearing EC-12 certification
  • Texas Certification in Deaf Education
  • 5+ years in Deaf education or special education setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
