Job Summary
Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide direct instructional support and specialized instruction to students with auditory impairments in Houston-area schools. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, adapting curricula for accessibility, supporting IEP/ARD processes and accommodations, collaborating with teachers and multidisciplinary teams, facilitating participation in classroom activities, supporting communication development through spoken language and/or sign language, utilizing assistive technology, and maintaining compliant documentation. Requires a Bachelor's degree and Texas certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Auditory Impairments; familiarity with hearing loss instructional strategies and IEP processes; strong collaboration and communication skills; sign language experience a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Auditory Impairments
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with hearing loss
- Understanding of IEP processes and special education services
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams and families
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
