Teacher of Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Delivers instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in their least restrictive environment while supporting them in meeting individual goals. Collaborates with general education teachers to develop and implement aligned lesson plans in total communication, ASL, or aural/oral modalities. Serves as case manager for assigned students, ensuring Individual Educational Programs are developed, implemented, and reviewed according to guidelines. Monitors specialized equipment including hearing aids and amplification devices, and works with audiologists on cochlear implant mapping. Communicates progress and needs with families and engages in staff meetings to maintain accurate records. Performs other related tasks as required. Requires a professional license with endorsement in Special Education-Deaf and Hard of Hearing PreK-12, fluency in ASL, and a valid Virginia driver's license. Employment is for 200 days with an assigned school location.
