Job Summary
Conduct direct early childhood educational services for children aged two to 36 months, managing daily classroom operations and supervising assigned children. Create and implement weekly lesson plans based on the Creative Curriculum while fostering physical, social-emotional, and intellectual growth. Ensure a safe, clean environment through close supervision, address developmental or behavioral issues via referrals, and model positive adult-child interactions. Plan classroom outings, communicate progress to parents, and handle daily setup, breakdown, and inventory maintenance. Maintain proper licensing compliance and attend required training seminars and staff meetings. Work a 35-hour week with a flexible schedule.
Required Qualifications
- 21 years plus
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
- Child Development Associates (CDA) (infants/toddlers) with study plan leading to Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education within 7 years
- High School Diploma or GED AND, 9 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development AND 2 years' experience with working with children under 2 years AND study plan leading to Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education within 7 years
- High School Diploma or GED AND 5 years' experience with working with children under 2 years within a permitted center
- High School Diploma or GED AND a study plan leading to 9 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development within 2 years AND a study plan leading to Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education within 7 years if currently employed at a permitted center
- Experience working, supporting and teaching children in a licensed childcare center
- NYS Central Registry Check and fingerprint clearance
- Knowledge of NYC Department of Health regulations and codes
- Proficiency with computer operations (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs)
- Ability to lift small children
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
