Job Summary
Naval Science NJROTC Instructor in a comprehensive high school setting. Teaches NJROTC cadets, organizes and chaperones field trips, ceremonies, and other activities, and collaborates with the faculty and support staff at Brien McMahon High School. Retired military officer with a bachelor’s degree who is certified by the Navy to serve in the NJROTC program or is eligible for certification; Connecticut teaching certification is a plus. Prior teaching experience and fluency in Spanish are assets. The role focuses on mentoring adolescents, communicating effectively with colleagues, and motivating students within a structured NJROTC program.
Required Qualifications
- Retired Military officer with a bachelor's degree
- Certified by the Navy to serve in the NJROTC program or eligible for certification
- Eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education teaching certification (plus)
- Some experience as an instructor
- Proven ability to interact with adolescents and work cooperatively with other high school staff
- Ability to teach and motivate students
- The NJROTC is a commissioned officer
