Job Summary
Instruct students in English language development and collaborate with the building Multilingual Team to provide evidence-based ELD instruction. Responsibilities include screening Multilingual Learners, frequent progress monitoring and data-driven goal setting, advocating best practices in ELD, developing and implementing curricula aligned to WIDA ELD standards, collaborating with counselors and district staff to place Multilingual students, maintaining communications with parents, and serving as a Multilingual Learner liaison. The role involves supporting paraeducators, attending IEP/504/RTI/MTSS meetings, participating in PLCs and professional development, and promoting equitable access to multilingual education.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Teacher certificate and English Language Learner endorsement; or coursework meeting WAC requirements or demonstrated commitment to obtaining required endorsement
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
- Experience with English Language Development standards
- Knowledge of evidence-based English language development strategies, progress monitoring, and assessments for ELD
- Ability to collaborate with counselors, building leadership, and district staff; communicate with parents; and participate in IEP/Section 504/RTI/MTSS processes
