Job Summary
Implement district learning goals and objectives aligned with state frameworks to ensure student progress in the general curriculum. Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays, writing and implementing goals consistent with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Deliver necessary accommodations for learning and testing, including curriculum development and data analysis for the MCAS Alternative Assessment. Collaborate with building staff to support student needs, assist with transitions to adult living services, and engage families in collaborative relationships. Regularly reflect on practice and share expertise with general education teachers to create effective academic and social-emotional learning experiences. This one-year position supports the district's vision of high expectations and equal access for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level
- ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Degree in Special Education
- Fluency in Spanish, Cabo Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
