Job Summary
Implement district learning goals aligned with state frameworks and provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays. Write and implement goals consistent with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) while offering accommodations for student learning and testing. Collaborate with staff to support student needs for modification and assist with transitions to adult living services. Engage families in collaborative relationships and regularly reflect on practice within a professional community. This role supports BPS's vision of high expectations and equal access for all students, with a focus on closing achievement gaps among subgroups.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level
- ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Degree in Special Education
- Fluency in Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
