Job Summary
Mathematics teacher for middle school responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and assessing an instructional program for 6th–8th graders. Designs authentic and engaging learning experiences aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum; employs diverse instructional materials and technology to develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving. Personalizes instruction based on student needs, assesses growth, communicates progress to parents, and collaborates with colleagues to maximize learning opportunities. May supervise teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers; participates in professional learning communities to refine assessments and instructional practices. Reports to the Principal; full-time middle-school position for 10 months with 7-hour days; remote work is not eligible.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license in middle school with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
