Job Summary
Implement the District's instructional program by developing lesson plans, coordinating with librarians, and administering the classroom to foster an environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior using positive discipline techniques while supervising safety during classes, between classes, and during school-related activities on and off campus. Maintain accurate records for student evaluation, attendance, textbooks, and parent contacts, and initiate communications with parents regarding programs, progress, and any problems. Cooperate with counselors, administrators, and staff to place students in effective educational settings and participate in special programs for students and parents.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited College or University
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
