Job Summary
Implement district learning goals aligned with state frameworks while providing small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays. Write and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals, develop accommodations for testing, and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment. Collaborate with staff to modify instruction and assist students in transitioning to adult living services. Engage families in collaborative relationships and reflect on practice within a diverse, inclusive school community.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level
- ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Degree in Special Education
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
- Certification in their subject area and one or both of the following: Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
