Job Summary
Teach mathematics courses to secondary pupils using the district's adopted course of study and curriculum publications. Develop lesson plans emphasizing discovery and laboratory learning methods, while demonstrating concepts using models, calculators, computers, and other instructional aids. Design activities relating mathematics to the physical world and provide individualized or small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil's needs. Evaluate student progress, communicate with parents and counselors regarding individual development, and supervise out-of-classroom activities during the work day. Participate in curriculum programs, faculty committees, and student activities such as math teams. Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected growth activities. This role supports the goal of motivating pupils to apply mathematical skills to practical problems and develop special talents in the field.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in appropriate licensure area
- Will accept K-6 applicants willing to meet licensure requirements
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
