Job Summary
Teach mathematics courses to secondary pupils using the district-adopted course of study and appropriate curriculum publications. Develop lesson plans emphasizing discovery and laboratory learning methods, while demonstrating concepts using models, calculators, computers, and other instructional aids. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil's needs, and design activities relating mathematics to the physical world. Evaluate student progress, communicate with parents and counselors regarding individual needs, and supervise out-of-classroom activities. Participate in curriculum programs, faculty committees, and student teams such as mathematic clubs. Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected growth activities. 10-month full-time contract with state salary schedule plus local supplement. North Carolina teaching license required; dual certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in appropriate licensure area
- Will accept K-6 applicants willing to meet licensure requirements
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
