Job Summary
Manhood Development Facilitator to plan and deliver Manhood Development coursework, fostering academic growth for African American students and supporting district equity goals. The role involves building trust, linking academics to students’ life experiences, and mentoring in alignment with the district’s voluntary resolution plan. Part-time schedule (1–2 class periods daily, 186 days/year) at a high school or middle school in Oakland, CA. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience; CA Teaching Credential or progress toward one preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Three (3) years of experience in mentoring, advocacy, community service and/or social work with African American male teenagers relating to race or gender inequities within disenfranchised groups, or related field work.
- Experience in teaching strategies to recognize and understand institutionalized racism specifically as directed toward African American male youth.
- Experience in modeling and teaching anger management and productive communication strategies to African American male youth.
- Valid California Teaching Credential or willingness to work toward a valid credential
