Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum while accommodating individual student differences. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to guide instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with Individual Education Plans. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside events. Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and records. Participate in staff development activities and faculty meetings as required. Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and comply with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject assigned
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
- Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
