Teacher Leadership Specialist

Job Summary
The Teacher Leadership Specialist will serve as a liaison to the school faculty within the Curriculum and Instruction Department, delivering professional development, modeling and observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to teachers. Responsibilities include facilitating state/district initiatives, developing and assessing instructional strategies to improve academic achievement, organizing and leading professional development, analyzing assessment data, coordinating with district leadership, and supporting teachers through planning, coaching, and data-driven instructional improvement. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, communication, knowledge of adult learning theory, and effective use of technology in instructional settings. Reports to School Level Administrator and Superintendent. Duties include visiting classrooms, coordinating PLCs, and assisting with district pacing guides and local/state assessments.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree
- A current North Carolina teaching license
- Knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Study
- Recognition by colleagues and community as outstanding classroom teacher leader
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills
- Strong personal literacy skills inclusive of oral and written communication
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and presentation skills
- Liaison between assigned school and Curriculum & Instruction Department
- Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
- Ability to conduct professional development for teachers and administrators at the local and state levels
- Experience modeling and observing classroom instruction; providing feedback to teachers
- Ability to disaggregate, interpret, analyze, and maintain assessment data
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, SMARTBoards, document cameras, etc. to increase the use of technology within instructional settings
