Job Summary
Kindergarten teacher responsible for delivering instruction aligned to the Norwalk Board of Education's scope and sequence, managing classroom behavior, preparing and implementing lesson plans, conducting parent/teacher conferences, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to meet diverse learner needs. Requires strong content knowledge, effective communication with parents, and ability to design assessments and instructional practices to support elementary students within an urban educational setting.
Required Qualifications
- Active 112 CDE Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- Expertise in writing instruction with an in-depth knowledge of language and written language development
- Demonstrated experience in a multi-cultural setting
- Demonstrated ability to teach elementary classes; experience with team teaching; urban experience
- Human relations skills to work effectively with students, parents, school administrators and school staff
- Knowledge of teaching methods, materials and education practices applicable to elementary school teaching
- Ability to prepare and implement effective plans
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as appropriate per Superintendent/Board of Education
