Job Summary
Teach K-6 music while actively learning Muckleshoot culture, language, and traditions to support tribal educational goals. Plan and implement culturally appropriate lesson plans aligned with state standards, managing individual and whole-group instruction for diverse student needs. Establish classroom rules, monitor student behavior, and provide guidance and discipline to encourage achievement. Collaborate with staff and the Muckleshoot community to develop new programs, maintain daily schedules, and prepare substitute plans. Evaluate student progress, collect data for state accountability, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians. Maintain attendance and grade records in both electronic and written formats.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a four (4) year college or university
- Washington State teaching certificate
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- First aid/CPR certification
- Specific teaching certificate endorsements
- Knowledge of subject areas appropriate to assignment
- Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques
- Knowledge of rules and procedures for student safety
- Knowledge of necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools or software
- Proficient use of reading, writing and oral communications
- Experiences and sensitivity toward Native American education issues
- Ability to work effectively in the Muckleshoot tribal community
- Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner
- Knowledge of early childhood education teaching processes and techniques
- Ability to stand, walk and talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally sit; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
