Job Summary
Educator role at River Run Academy/JRI delivering trauma-informed instructional and therapeutic education to adolescents with mild-to-moderate cognitive impairment and concurrent behavioral/mental health needs. Develop and implement structured lesson plans, build therapeutic rapport, collaborate with a multidisciplinary special education team, attend meetings with families and collateral teams, and help students develop important life skills. Maintain a 6:1 student-teacher ratio, support academics and transition needs, and uphold a respectful, collaborative workplace. Must hold Connecticut teaching certification and have experience with grades 5-12; valid driver’s license required.
Required Qualifications
- Connecticut teaching certification by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of needs of the population served; understanding of interventions and treatment required by this population
- Maintains valid driver’s license; transporting students is required
- Background and driving record checks will be performed
