Job Summary
Special education teacher responsible for developing and implementing IEP-based instruction for scholars, collaborating with ARD committees, planning and delivering individualized lessons, using technology in the teaching/learning process, and supervising teacher aides and volunteers. Responsibilities include implementing instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs, adapting curricula to student needs, conducting ongoing assessments, maintaining open lines of communication with parents and staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies. Supervisory duties include overseeing teacher aide(s) and volunteers, while maintaining a positive classroom environment and supporting the mission of the district.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas Special Education teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
