Job Summary
Collaborate with campus administration and special education teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with intensive special needs. Actively participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetings and Full and Individual Evaluations to ensure appropriate placement and eligibility determinations. Ensure student progress is evaluated regularly, update IEP Progress Reports for parents, and compile all required legal records and reports. Serve as the campus resource person for staff, support curriculum implementation, and conduct conferences with families, students, and administrators. Perform special projects and duties as assigned, including behavior management strategies and compliance with state mandated assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-Year College or University, preferably in the area of Special Education
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of Special Education
- Letter of eligibility for special education certification (if alternative certified)
- Additional grade level or content area certification (for select positions)
- Advanced knowledge of and compliance with federal and state special education law
- Working knowledge of and compliance with individualized services for students with disabilities
- Advanced knowledge of and compliance with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process
- Knowledge of the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills to implement multiple and diverse programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, and, assessments
- Ability to transition with district, campus, and/or department changes
- Ability to communicate effectively with and receive guidance from supervisors
