Job Summary
Implement district learning goals and objectives aligned with state frameworks for Grade 7-8 students with moderate to severe cognitive delays. Provide small-group instruction to ensure understanding and progress in the general curriculum while writing IEP goals and delivering accommodations for testing. Collaborate with staff to support student modifications, assist with transitions to adult living services, and prepare students for MCAS Alternative Assessments. Engage families in collaborative relationships and reflect on practice to adjust instruction toward ambitious learning goals.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor's degree
- Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Degree in Special Education
- Hold either ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement
- Fluency in Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
