Job Summary
Instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times while establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Plan a program of study that addresses individual student needs, interests, and abilities, and prepare written evidence of lesson planning upon request. Create a conducive classroom environment, supervise students to ensure safety, and assess accomplishments regularly with progress reports. Diagnose learning disabilities as needed and assist administration in implementing policies governing student conduct. Develop classroom behavior rules, evaluate teacher aide performance, and attend staff meetings or committees. Remain available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area
- Knowledge of subject content
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
- Ability to manage students
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
