Job Summary
Teacher - Grade 5 Dual Language (English) leads students toward their potential by translating district curriculum goals into engaging learning experiences for upper-elementary students. Responsible for planning and preparing lessons with knowledge of content and pedagogy, applying understanding of students' backgrounds and needs to tailor instruction, setting high-level learning outcomes, and designing coherent instruction aligned to standards. Establishes a respectful, collaborative learning environment with high expectations, effective classroom procedures, and strong behavior management. Communicates clearly with families and collaborates with colleagues to support student learning, using assessments to monitor progress and adapt instruction. Maintains accurate records of student progress and participates in ongoing professional development to improve instructional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education (Self Contained General Education) endorsement and Bilingual - Spanish endorsement, or Educator License With Stipulations endorsed as a Transitional Bilingual Educator (ELS-TBE) preferred
- Recent teaching experience at the elementary level
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods and current teaching techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others.
