Job Summary
Teach General Science in an SEI setting for grades 7-12, creatively designing interdisciplinary courses that incorporate state frameworks and district learning goals. Implement research-based curriculum to foster scientific inquiry and develop students' capacity for investigative thinking. Administer district mid-year and end-of-year assessments while scaffolding instruction to meet diverse needs and ensure equitable participation. Cultivate a respectful learning environment that actively engages families and reflects on practice within a collaborative adult learning community. This role supports BPS's vision of high expectations and closing achievement gaps for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in General Science at the appropriate grade level
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- SEI Endorsement OR dual certification in ESL
- Degree in a relevant science field and/or Education
- Fluency in Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
