Job Summary
Teach Spanish, Creole, or other foreign languages using cognitively demanding tasks and ambitious learning goals for all students. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs while maintaining a safe, respectful environment that values every student's background. Engage families in collaborative relationships to support student learning and regularly reflect on practice within a professional community. This anticipated vacancy for the 2026-27 school year requires a Massachusetts teaching license and current U.S. work authorization. Candidates are encouraged to speak Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor's degree
- Hold the appropriate valid Massachusetts Teaching License in the required foreign language at the appropriate grade level
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified according to NCLB
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
- Certification in Moderate Disabilities
- Certification in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
