Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in one-on-one, small group, and inclusive classroom settings. Develop and implement IEPs and 504 Plans. Teach Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility concepts, and adaptive skills. Adapt instructional materials to accessible formats (Braille, large print, audio). Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student success. Support use of assistive technology and visual aids. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Maintain documentation in compliance with SCDE and IDEA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Visual Impairments, Special Education, or related field
- South Carolina Teaching License with Visual Impairment certification (SCDE)
- Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check
